The Spanish word "ropas" means clothes in English.

The Spanish generally have a very modern outlook on clothing. They love designer clothes; however, quality is far more important to them than a designer name. Spanish made clothes tend to be high quality and reasonably priced.

Trousers are generally worn more than skirts by teenage girls. Denim is definitely ‘in'. Teenage boys are eager to wear designer clothes and appearance is of great importance to them. Mature Spaniards dress conservatively and with style. High quality clothing is worn in particular by older men.

It is not 100% clear as to what Spaniards think of scantily clad holiday makers. However it is not acceptable in small villages, away from the coastline. It is of great importance to take with your dress code when entering churches. Swimwear and short skirts would be frowned upon in such locations.

Men are discouraged from wearing football tops and shorts when in the city. You will rarely see a Spaniard wearing shorts in the town.

Flesh is best kept for the beach and coastal resorts. It appears that less is best. It will not be unusual to see scantily clad girls of all ages in tiny bikinis and often topless in such locations. G-strings and thongs are certainly "in" with Spanish girls when on the beach.

Despite the heat, you will see business people dressed in suits, along with a shirt and tie. If visiting Spain on business it is advised to do the same.
