Spanish Word for House
The Spanish word "Casa" means house in English.
The house is of great significance in Spanish culture because Spanish people are extremely family orientated and have many family gatherings for food, parties, celebrations etc. On many occasions the entire family comes together in the house simply to get together.
Many Spanish families continue to live in the same house, even when the children are grown up and in their 30s, 40s and even 50s. It is not uncommon for sons and daughters to continue residing with their family along with their husbands, wives and children. This culture typically gets together on a daily basis to eat as a family.
The Spanish house always has an open door, whereby friends and people in the community can drop by to give their greetings and have a cup of coffee and maybe some tapas. The lady of the Spanish house takes great pride in ensuring that her house is a warm and welcome place whereby anyone can drop in and feel at home.
