Spanish Word for Party
The Spanish word "fiesta" means party in English.
I think it can safely be said that no country on earth is quite as good at enjoying itself as Spain.
Spain's rich cultural history, along with its traditions, and many regions have brought out fun and original celebrations. Some celebrations are of religious nature, and others are historical, which all vary in length and style. However, one thing is certain in that, they all take place outdoors with music and fireworks, and involve a great deal of bubbly spirit by the Spanish people.
A large amount of Spanish life is lived in the streets and fiestas are celebrated through the entire year. There are so many fiestas, that it is said that if you attend more than one fiesta per day, you will not be able to see them all in a single lifetime!
One of the very popular Spanish fiestas which many people worldwide are aware of is the "La Tomatina", tomato fight festival, which takes place in Buñol near Valencia. This fiesta occurs every year on the last Wednesday in August. The highlight of the festival is the tomato fight which takes place between the hours of 11am and 1pm.
This event has become one of the highlights on Spain's summer festivals calendar whereby thousands of people flock to this town for the chaotic event.
