Spanish Word for Ski

The Spanish word "esqui" means ski in English.

Even though Spain is famous for its sunny beaches, many are unaware that it is Spain's skiing during the winter that gives the country its attractive "holiday getaway" charm. Spain is home to 5 main skiing regions:

The oldest ski resort in Spain is La Molina, which is located in the Catalan Pyrenees. The most popular skiing location is Sierra Nevada which is 22 miles south of Granada. It is Europe's most southerly ski resort and one of the highest at 2,150 meters. Because of the 321 days of sunshine a year and close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, it is the most popular ski destination. Many visitors take advantage of this unique weather mixture and ski and sunbathe on the same day.
